The heating element is in direct contact with the part. Energy is transmitted by conduction. The heat source is placed on the external surface or inserted into the part.

HEATING OF SOLIDS BY RADIATION

Some processes enable the temperature of the part to be raised without it being in contact with the heating element. The first solution is to place the part in an enclosure, e.g. an oven, or to blow hot air over it. for this option, see section “Heating gases“. The second solution is to heat the part remotely by infrared radiation. This solution overcomes the environment in which the process takes palce. Sinde air is permeable to radiation, only that wich is facing the emitter is heated.
